what a horrible day it's been.
our senator, minnesota's, paul wellstone, was killed this morning, when his plane crashed. a democrat who was very vocal, and an activist, and a strong liberal. he was much loved, valued and respected. he was amazing politician, who i trusted, he wavered the least on issues, and he fought hard for what he believed in... "He drew national attention recently when he voted against authorizing the use of force against Iraq." and "considered one of the most prominent liberal members of the Senate. "
[The race was widely regarded as one of the most competitive Senate contests, and thus of paramount importance in determining which party will control the Senate after Nov. 5. ] (per new york times.) . november 5, they have 6 days to find a replacement democratic candidate (apparently this replacement has to be named 4 days before the election). the fact that he died this morning, makes it easier for the replubican party to win, and if they win, then the war is more likely.
