it is snowing out.
(note: as of 10/30, there are still leaves on the trees, not alot, but...and it hasn't snowed since this day, so it's very dry looking and does not look like the winter wonderland at all)

missing japanese boys. actually, it seems that the boys lock themselves up in their rooms, due to "Pressure from schools and an inability to talk to their families are suggested causes. " these occurences are being labled as a disorder named hikkomori and unlike agoraphobia (the typical label given to those who are afraid to go outside), this is said to be a problem of japan. one boy in this story, locked himself up for four years. this is strange enough but it gets even more eerie. in this other bbc article, they talk about the violence associated with this disorder, specifically, "the desire to live a normal life but the inability to do so - often expresses itself in anger and aggression towards those around them". to the point of attacking family,etc.,
i hope that they find a cure for this soon. all i can think of is the wasted time, the months, years, etc., that go by as they are "trapped" in their house. of course with today's tv's and computers, these kids will still be kept up to date...but lacking the social eptitude with their minimal social contact. heck, actually, that's all of us folks who find ourselves too busy to go out and rely on televisions,computers, etc. to entertain us, rather than the outside world. (metafilter's comments...where they can see themselves also becoming a hermit in this society)
