HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

i love this day. a lady at work came in dressed like an old lady, with the white wig in a bun, and fake teeth making her look as if they've rotted, glasses and with a bent over walk. a guy came as a 1970's dude with a huge afro, bell bottoms and a groovy shirt and actually looks better than normal. actually, my favorite part of halloween at work, is all the candy and the pumpkin cookies! yummy!

i can't wait to hand out cookies to the little kids tonight...and seeing them in costumes!

(although, i remember one year, when i handed out candy at my friend's house in north minneapolis. the kids came to the door, without a costume, as old as 13 or so, with a pillowcase (for bags) held out, expecting candy. of course i could not say no, but, what gall!!! and the parents were with some of them, with pillowcases! what kind of parents are these, sending their kids out, without a costume? i realize that they are probably poor, but why could they not have created a costume at home, something simple, something to encourage creativity, rather than just expecting candy for free. it made me sad! it made me want to create costumes for them the next year.)

holidays give me a reason to draw things. ;)

run dmc's jam master jay was shot and killed last night. "Together the three [jay, joseph simmons, and daryyl mcdaniels] formed the group that would be more responsible than any other for spreading the idea that one person — a disc jockey — could provide the entire musical backdrop for a song."
