what do i love the most about america? the freedom to say whatever it is that i choose to. although my opinions sometimes are not the same as coworkers or aquaintances or friends, i have the freedom to say them, and to decide whether i want to talk about it. freedom.

by voting for the bush administration (i did not vote for him, but i do acknowledge that he is our president and our leader of the US!), you have allowed that some law abiding citizens get different rights than other law abiding citizens. apparently i have to be afraid of what i write in my journal. because of the patriot act which resulted in eff which may result in jail time for an unnamed reason, due to suspions by the government, and b/c it is unnamed some individuals will not be able to defend themselves.

if this were to happen there are places one can go to let their story be known,. a blog, for instance.also, if it were me, i would, repeat, i would, or i would make sure that every single person (friend, family, aquanitance, coworker) in my life would, get my story on the news.

i feel as if america is sleeping, allowing all of this to happen to their own citizens. allowing their own citizens to have their rights taken away. this scares the sh*t out of me. for i love america, and i love being an american, and i really want to believe that my fellow americans would protect me from having my rights taken away. but ever since 911, i have not been as sure of how my fellow american think of me. a dark skinned girl with a different name.

although, i was born in another country, i have lived here for over 26 years. i am a baseball loving, apple pie eating girl. i am the girl that used to drink, and had pre-marital sex, just like every other american. the girl that loves her independence,so much so that she did not get married until she was 32.

that i, a person who comes from a family who had given up their rights, and in essence their love for the country from which we were born, to become a citizen of america. i wish that my fellow americans, who are born here, would realize the amount of loyalty felt by someone who became a citizen here. we became citizens because we believed in this country. we believed in the good of it's people, in the good of the opportunities, and in it's ability to give freedom. that i should have to be afraid for my rights, is just disgusting. please america, wake up and realize that we can do something, we can speak out and disagree with the administration. our administration. it is our right to do that. and speak out against the fact that some of you, who are white, can do that, without fear, while the ones that are not, have to tread carefully upon these murky waters.
