robin's new schedule started yesteryday. he will be working saturday and sundy 6a-6p, and being that we only have one car now, i am left stranded at the house. luckily, my realtor came to get me on saturday to take me to look at houses. no luck on the 'perfect' house, but it was good to be outside in the lovely weather. afterwards she took me to dinkytown, where i killed time until i had to meet up with preeth, his friend, and emily and scott to see an iranian movie part of the international film festival.

i went to get the tickets for the movie, but no luck. there was a man there waiting as well. i realized that i needed to eat so i walked a block or two to get lunch. i found a place that served half price appetizers! perfect! lo and behold the same man walked through the door.

we ended up sitting near each other and we talked of films, etc., while i waited for preeth. this man apparently is so embarrased to say that he is minnesotan, for he had lived in spain for so long. when asked where he is from, he said spain, although he reluctantly admitted to living in minnesota now, after returning from spain. i have met so many people like him actually. those who were able to get away from this small city, and are unwilling to admit that they were forced to return. anyway, it was fun to talk to someone new.

the iranian movie that emily (scott could not come), preeth, his friend (someone visiting from phillie) and i saw was named iranian spread'. a movie about the journey of a counterfeit bill.

a wonderful movie to see. it was amazing to see all the different lives that were touched by a small piece of paper. it showed so much of the characters, only by knowing how they obtained the bill and how they found out that it was fake, and then what they did with the bill knowing that it was fake. my only complaint is that this movie seemed to have stretched a bit...but it dealt with so many lives and each life was very interesting to watch, so maybe i am not altogether unhappy in the length. it is no wonder that iranian films are so popular and given so much credit these days. i would love to see more of them.

i can't wait to see more of any of the movies in this festival. i am hoping to see a swedish movie tonight (sunday).

----------------

sunday, no way to get out so i just spent the day being lazy. i also made some phone calls to friends i hadn't spoken to in a while, including neza, and my old friend kanaka's mom who always reminds me of better days spent with kanaka. better in the sense, that we used to be closer at one time. i hope that we have the desire to revive the friendship, so i can have "my little sister" back in my life.
