hubs worked all weekend, started saturday morning at 6am, and came home sunday night at 6pm. so what is a girl to do then you ask...party with friends? read books? chat on the phone? nope, not i. i borrowed some movies from my brothers,(and parents) and watched 3 movies straight. 3 bollywood movies to be exact. and although i generally don't like bollywood movies, for the reason that there is too much dancing and singing...i loved these 3 movies that i saw.

dil chata hai, company and saathiya. i loved the different stories in dil chata hai. the different loves. the love between friends as well as their women. one has many ill-fated loves, another character loves without sex, and the third fellow (aamir!)love a woman who is engaged. movie proves again why aamir khan is one of my favorite desi actors. this movie also makes me want to visit bombay very much,as well as goa and sydney. i am really, really picky about indian movies, but i did like this one alot. it was beautiful to watch, the clothes, the scenery, the money that these folks had...as well as the plot and i loved the fact that each of the 3 characters touched me.

company, well i liked this movie, because it was definitely different from any bollywood movies, heck i can't even remember if there is any singing, which is a huge bonus point. the two actors in this movie are Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi. two actors i like alot, they're cute and have good and strong characters. the latter, of course usually smiles more in his movies vs. this one... and i would have thought that he was too young, too good looking and too hip for this role as a poor, angry gangster, but he was awesome actually. the story took place, again, in bombay, but it also took you to hong kong, which was cool. i liked the story, i like that it wasn't too much like other gangster movies, (which i like but i hate repition), and had it's own story.

by the way, both company and dil chata hai dealt with great male relationships destroyed by females. hmm...

the last movie that i watched was saathiya. it's a love story. it has alot of singing and dancing...ugh! but i liked it. it was cute. it tries to make you cry and laugh, and yeah it has the old bollywood formula, boy meets girl, boy gets girl, but girls' parents don't like boy, so boy loses girl. it was still cute, changed the formula up a bit and has a cool cameo by another of my favorites, shah rukh khan. it also deals with life after lust and after marriage...the hardships of marriage, the difficulties resulting from monotony. this was definitely a nice twist which i did not expect...and i think that more movies should do.

regarding all three movies-thank god for subtitles.
