hubs, pbro and i watched a movie based on bloody sunday. it is, of course, based on THE 'sunday bloody sunday' event, "On January 30, 1972, soldiers from the British Army's 1st Parachute Regiment opened fire on unarmed and peaceful civilian demonstrators in the Bogside, Derry, Ireland, near the Rossville flats, killing 13 and wounding a number of others. One wounded man later died from illness attributed to that shooting.

The march, which was called to protest internment, was "illegal" according to British government authorities. Internment without trial was introduced by the British government on August 9, 1971.".

it was an amazing movie to watch, i, of course knew the ending, but the movie lead up to it by showing many different views, from the people, from the soldiers, and from the people in charge of the 'open fire'.

at the end, i am even more angry. i feel angry towards the people who inflicted the deaths, who shot without remorse, or who made decisions to have people shoot without thinking twice. but, i am the most angry at those who made the decision to shoot or to have people shoot, and also had thought twice, three times, four...who knew the gravity of what they were doing, and what was going on around them. the people who felt it 'morally' and within their heart and soul...who lied to cover it up. they are the people i feel the most angry with...the people who know they are doing wrong, and still do it, vs. the people who have not the ability(their soul and heart doesn't allow it) to know and do it.

i acknowledge that the same thing happens all over the world, with different issues, faces, but with the same result of dead innocent people killed by people in charge of doing it.

here are some links that have more info on bloody sunday event and the movie.

on an extremely completely unrelated note: johnny depp is voted sexiest man alive. i have to agree, next to my husband of course.
