i had a person comment on my last post...saying that 9/11 was also disgusting, so why was i disgusted with the detainment of those individuals who may have played a part in 9/11.

here was my response (so that i remember later, when they archive the comments):

the 761 people who were detained were not charged with terrorism, the only person that was charged as of now was moussaui. did you not read that in the article?

yes we need to protect ourselves from terrorism. but the 761 people are not connected to 9/11 (i can't that all of the 761 are not, but the courts seem to have decided that). yes 9/11 was horrible, yes those who died did not expect to die that morning, and the families did not expect to lose their loved ones. i, myself have friends in new york, and i was terrified for their lives...9/11 was a horrible, disgusting thing. but 9/11 was not caused by the 761 detainees, young and old...there were old men, 60 year old men, there were young innocent boys. do you not understand that their only crime was that they were of the same religion as the men who committed 9/11. why are you not understanding the difference between the two acts, the rounding up and 9/11. INS chose, no the administration chose, to involve INS to gather up all men from certain regions of the world, all muslim. i truly believe that they would have eagerly gathered up others as well, citizens included, merely because they are muslim.

(like the japanese during world war 2)

i do love this country, and you know what so did these people who stayed here illegally. they loved it so much that they took a chance that they should not have, by evading their INS rights. they fucked up. yeah, but they are not terrorists, and they are not responsible for 9/11 (again, i cannot say that all 761 are not responsible in anyway, but according to the article, none were charged).

(all of this is just my opinion, and i get a little riled up when people's rights are taken away...the "rounding up" has happened with all sorts of cultures and reasons actually throughout history...with blacks (african americans), the japanese like i mentioned, and other minorities, who are identifiable by a trait...be it skin color, religion, or other).
