Wu Wei. loosely translated, it means, let things take their own course.

getting tired of talking of the state of america right now, and feeling helpless, so i will temporarily stop blogging about it.

---------------------------

as i was surfin on the eatonweb portal, found this fellow, who pointed out a thread on Kuro5hin, "what's in your neck of the woods?". looks interesting, i think that i'll try the questions posed.

Where do you live?

minneapolis, minnesota, usa. in the midwest, in a city that's bigger than most, but smaller than the big ones that the world knows.

Why do you live there?

my job is here, my family is here. and i really do like this city.

What cultural opportunities do you have?

culture? indian or american? there are many, many museums, theaters, music halls, clubs, restaurants and there indian associations too, so occasionally we have an indian function or two. overall there is alot to do here, but of course chicago, nyc, LA, and san fran and a few other cities have more. and restaurants? lots of options regardless of your taste, sushi, pasta, pizza, curry (thai, indian, sri lankan, vietnamese), baba ghanoj, tapas, etc.,

What recreational opportunities do you have?

it's the land of ten thousand lakes, lots of greenery, many parks.

What do you like about it?

the options. i have been here forever and i go out often, and there's still so much to do and see

What do you hate about it?

the people are not very cosmopolitan. not alot of accents, clothing styles are so behind the times...could use updating and could use more diversity.

What qualities really stand out? (good or bad)

it's truly a small big city. it's got alot of the big city qualities (culture, gangs, etc.,) but with alot of the small city values (a bit conservative).

Would you recommend it, and why?

yeah. it's a good place to be young and it's also good to raise a family. if you want to move to a city with stuff to do, but without alot of crime...this is the place to go.

If I were to move there, what would I really need to know?

it's cold in the winter. it's really cold. (but the snow is very pretty)

How is it different from other places you have been?

i've been to big cities, where everyone is too busy going somewhere, but here is where the people will actually take the time to help you if you need help. it's a mid western thing.

let me know if you do this on your site, i would love to read it.
