mom did jury duty last week. honestly, i have never seen her more excited, interested, or curious. it was very, very, cute. she got into the whole thing, the judicial process, the lingo, the case, the case being made, all of it. it was great to hear her tell me little things each day, how many people were in the jury, what the building looked like, how late she had to stay, and finally where they were all taken to eat for dinner when the verdict was taking too long to be made. everything but the details of the case, of course. at the end of it all, after the verdict was made, and everyone was sent home, she told me that the defendant cried, and also of how she and the other jurors felt watching him cry after he found out that he was pronounced not-guilty, unanimously.

what an awesome thing for her to be a part of. an amazing feeling of being a part of something so important, so american, and so vital to being a citizen of the US.
