boxes everywhere from having moved on sunday, an ornary husband who hates the boxes everywhere, and a very stressful job which thrives on the politics derived from doing a project (contractor) for a company doing a project for another company, on top of all of that, i have a cold...and a mother-in-law coming to visit this messy house.

(i adore my mother in law, but am feeling pressured to make the place look great before she comes.)

i attended a book reading by jhumpa lahiri on tuesday. i was amazed by how many non-brown skinned people there were...and at how packed the place was...they had to turn people away. the book sounds interesting, and i am looking forward to reading it.

[it sounds like a simple story about a child of recently immigrated indians...and in all honesty, what she read sounded very familiar to me and i like that. jhumpa lahiri's writing has a touch of comedy within the beautifully written words. the reviews on amazon are saying that it is good but not as good as the hype based on her previous book. i wonder why people can't take the book as it is rather than as a second effort of an established writer?]

i also ran into a woman i hadn't seen since college...hopefully we'll stay in touch...but do i have the energy to start a friendship?
