just as i was beginning to understanding what to eat...and was getting used to the idea of cutting down on things, and eating portions throughout the day vs eating 3 big meals a day...i go to the doctor and i take a test. what is the result? i am diabetic. and the thing is that, it really is too soon to call it gestational diabetes (diabetes that is caused by the pregnancy and lasts until the baby is born). so i must have been diabetic prior to the pregnancy. the scary thing is that this will affect the baby.

not only do i have to eat and eat for the baby, but i have to make sure that i don't have a large intake of sugar for my own health. this does not just mean no candy, doughnuts, cakes...it means, no breads, potatoes, certain fruits, certain vegetables, all things i love. no more poori, no more curma with potatoes, no more grapes, no more cereal.

robin and i went to the grocery store yesterday to find something to eat...and we looked at the nutritional label of all the products. every product was either high in carbs (which turns into sugar) or high in sugar or both. i have no idea what to eat. i have no idea of how to eat alot for the baby while also making sure that my blood sugar count goes down. (apparently my count was 248 and the average is betwen 75 and 115) and of course i cannot take oral medicaiton for it will go straight to the baby...so i might have to take the shots.

i meet with a doctor tomorrow specifically to deal with this situation, and they act as if this is fixable, so i am trying to feel too afraid.
